She was addicted to drugs and did not think she had a problem

A five-day binge, two rehabs and a Harvard expulsion. Emma Gray got sober at twenty-one and has stayed that way for nearly eleven years.

Emma Gray grew up wealthy in Manhattan, experimented with cocaine and prescription opioids, and for a long time did not believe any of it was a problem. Her last day using came at the end of a five-day binge.

She was kicked out of Harvard, and the darkest stretch came between her two attempts at rehab. We talk about how her parents coped, and why nobody can force someone else to get sober, however much they love them.

She got sober at twenty-one. Reading, intensive therapy and work on shame, guilt and old childhood wounds rebuilt her life, along with some practical habits for early recovery: building accountability, taking away the chances to relapse, and not trying to fix everything at once. She went back to Harvard sober, finished her degree, and built a career in finance before becoming a content creator.
