Dean Moses is my longtime friend, best man and recovery mentor. Before any of that, he spent seven years on heroin.
Dean Moses grew up with addiction in his family. Cocaine and ecstasy as a teenager led to painkillers and OxyContin, and then to his first heroin injection, which he describes in full.
He talks about the intervention his friends staged, watching a near-fatal overdose in Mexico, and introducing his own brother to IV drugs. I share what it was like losing a friend, and how Dean stood by me through my own addiction.
We finish on what recovery has asked of both of us: honesty and surrender, rebuilding trust with family, why quitting drugs did not end my gambling, and the peace that comes after.
Keep going
